Ancient Aliens (古代のエイリアン)
「Ancient Aliens (古代のエイリアン)」は、2010年頃から4Chanや各掲示板サイトで使われ始めた数々の画像からなるインターネット・ミームです。
このミームはHistory Channelで放映されていた同名の番組が元になっており、その番組ではGiorgio A. Tsoukalosという解説者が数多くのセオリーや伝説をすべてエイリアンの仕業に絡める、という内容でネット上で話題になっていました。
最も有名なのは、Giorgio A. Tsoukalosが両手を広げて説明している画像に、疑問文や不可解な現象を書き、下部に大きく「ALIENS」と入れるというもの。
当番組では有名なピラミッドの謎さえもエイリアンの仕業だという風に解説しており、4ChanでGiorgio Tsoukalosのエイリアンに対する執念ともいえる熱心な研究っぷり、また独特な髪形や風貌をからかう目的で、数々の画像やコラージュが誕生していきました。
ネット上では、どんな事柄も無理矢理エイリアンが絡んでいるという事実に変えてしまうという使われ方をされています。

"Ancient Aliens" is an internet meme consisting of a series of images that began circulating around 2010 on 4chan and various online message boards.
The meme originated from the History Channel television series of the same name. On the show, commentator Giorgio A. Tsoukalos became widely known online for linking numerous theories and legends to extraterrestrials, often suggesting that aliens were responsible for many mysteries throughout history.
The most famous format features an image of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos spreading his hands while explaining something, with a question or unexplained phenomenon written above, and the word "ALIENS" displayed prominently at the bottom.
On the show, even famous mysteries such as the construction of the pyramids were explained as the work of aliens. On 4chan, users began creating numerous images and collages, partly to parody Tsoukalos's intense, almost obsessive enthusiasm for extraterrestrials, as well as his distinctive hairstyle and appearance.
Online, the meme is used to humorously turn any situation into a conclusion that aliens must somehow be involved.
